As a first time traveler to the land of Ireland, nothing could prepare me for the brisk cold weather besides my winter’s spent in the Midwest. In my process of keeping warm, I could not resist picking up a traditional handmade wool sweater at a nearby boutique. An idyllic boutique in Doolin, Ireland (countryside destination) offered a great selection for men and women. After trying on more than a few I decided upon this bright red turtleneck, also known by the locals as a “Jumper.” The jumper paired with a skinny denim and boat shoes for comfort.

Check out this link to an online website for the traditional Irish wool sweaters.

Hola from Spain! As I traveled along the streets of Madrid, I could not resist roaming the Calle de Serrano. No introduction needed with locals or fashion admirers afar this street holds some high-end designer stores. Max & Co. was one of my favorites displayed with a balance of colorful and neutral delights. Max & Co. is a retail brand that stems from Max Mara Fashion Group with multiple locations, even one housed in San Francisco. Not conveniently close? No worries, make sure to check out their website for an online browse {here}. You’ll find some great inspiration to start your spring wardrobe off on the right step. Happy Monday.

Paris Fashion Week is underway and I wait in anticipation to see what designers are presenting on the runway. As someone who is detail-oriented I pay close attention to fabrics, silhouettes, hemlines, textures, and most importantly the story each designer is trying to covey to its audience. I was mesmerized by Dries Van Noten Fall 2015 Collection, it was feminine and styled beautifully. I instantaneously gravitated towards the jacquard pieces, a fabric that is timeless in fall.

My look above was inspired from his collection. I styled this look with simplicity in mind, no doubt when fall/autumn come around I plan to pair with a cream faux-fur vest. Below you’ll find a few of my favorite looks.

MUDE

Portugal 2015 009MUDE – Design and Fashion Museum in the heart of the Belém Cultural Center is currently featuring three major exhibitions.

From the Matrix to Sleeping Beauty

Behind the Shadow

How Do You Pronounce in Portuguese?

The modern museum also features couture pieces (no photographs) from over 230 fashion designers. Which include favorites of mine Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Yves Saint Laurent, and Jean Paul Gaultier. As a fashion enthusiast, to say I was thrilled would be an understatement!

Pictures below are images of the “From Matrix to Sleeping Beauty” exhibition, a dedication to António Lagarto’s costumes. It includes over 300 pieces of clothing, hair props, jewelry, and shoes he designed. Fine craftsmanship at it’s best with the attention to detail of cut, color, fabrication, and beading was impeccable.

The images featured below are from the André Ópticas Collection – “Behind the Shadows” exhibition. This exhibition focused on the transformation of eye-wear from the 1950’s to now, holding over 3000 vintage collection pieces . The evolution of brands and styles mixed with shape, color, material, and technology are amazing. I walked away with a whole new appreciation and perspective.

Today’s blog post takes place in the Park of Nations, the backdrop you ask is featuring the beautiful Vasco de Gama bridge just over the Tagus River. The bridge is known as the largest bridge in Europe and took 18 months to build. The Parque das Nações (Park of Nations) was rebuilt to host Lisbon’s World Fair from May to September 1998. “The Oceans: A Heritage for the Future” theme hosted over 130 countries and international organizations. If you find yourself in Lisbon, you must take the time to sit along the river while enjoying a cup of espresso.

Inspired by my surroundings, I kept my nautical look simple with a navy and cream striped sweater, dark denim and my new braided belt from The Cork Store. If you haven’t already, check out my earlier post on the Lisbon based store!

Tracy’s Trend Tip: For belts that run to big or long, wrap the extra length around the main belt to create a seamless clean look.

Getting lost in the beauty of Lisbon is not hard to do. Phil and I find our best discoveries have come from exploring by foot and talking to many locals. We stumbled upon this graffiti wall on our way to the Vasco da Gama. The Vasco de Gama is a popular shopping center within the Parque das Nações (Park of Nations). It carries a variety of stores such as Zara, which is where I picked up my new favorite faux leather denim. This is a pant I have seen worn by women of all ages here in Lisbon, the only difference is the overall assembled look. I paired these pants with a fitted gold sequined sweater and gold flats for walking purposes of course. For later, toss on a pair of heels for a night on the town.

Tracy’s Trend Tip: For a casual laid back look, pair with an over-sized sweater and Nike sneakers. It gives an effortless, yet chic look.

As our first week of living in Lisbon comes to a close, I wanted to share with you a great shop I stumbled upon while exploring the Castle of St. George. Just steps from the castle is an exquisite shop called The Cork Store. It’s owned and operated by Sonia Mestre. In conversation we discussed the soft texture and how eco-friendly the cork products are made from right here in Portugal. Here is an interesting fact Portugal produces 50% of cork harvested worldwide. The store provides an array of different products from fashion, accessories to furniture pieces for your home.

Naturally, I was inspired by Sonia’s (a fellow Stella McCartney fan)  look and had to purchase the braided skinny belt myself. I will be featuring it on an upcoming post. If you’re ever in the area, please make sure to stop by or visit their website below!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s official Phil and I have moved to Portugal! Our first week is winding down and I look forward to sharing all of our adventures from living abroad. Most importantly, bringing you fashion from the streets of Lisbon. Above is a casual look I was sporting from our travels around the city. In case you’ve never been to Lisbon, I will be the first to inform you the beautiful streets are made of nothing but cobble stone….yes cobblestone. These Coach shoes were the perfect combination of color and comfort. Thank you for stopping by & hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Date Night….what to wear, what to wear?!?  Whether checking out a new movie or local restaurant, this question always crosses my mind. I am all about comfort when headed out for date night, although I will never turn down a chance to dress up. This look was inspired for one of those dressy moments. This fun and feminine blouse has side slits on the sleeves that sets it apart from the other tops currently in my closet. I dare to bare this look without a coat, so I paired it with a neutral thick scarf for warmth.

Hope this looks inspires you to get dressed up this weekend.
